Shazam!

So here's a weird thing. I've only just got access to my Apple Music Artist account, and what I can see straight away is that a few of my tracks have had dozens of Shazam's. Mostly in Russia and Eastern Europe.

The album only went live yesterday (although the tracks have been on SoundCloud and YouTube for a bit), and these Shazam's pre-date yesterday's release.

So my question/puzzlement is this: Does this really mean dozens of people have heard these tracks being played, and were interested enough to Shazam it to find out what it was? Never mind the number of people who must then have heard it without Shazam'ing them!

Can this be right? Where were they played? Who played them? Where did they get the music from? Or is it more realistic that the data is messed up and it doesn't mean anything of the sort?
